What causes that? The light in your eyes, I mean. It’s important we know – so we can have hope, so our spirit can be light, and so we can live our lives in the manner and direction we thought they might bend when we were young. I see some people truly enjoying their days, and sadly, others who seem only able to take one dread-filled step after another all day long. The eyes of those seem to have no light at all. Why is that? (more…)

The Oklahoma wind was so cold on that early March day, I was just mad at it. Felt like that stiff breeze had a pair of pliers just squeezing like the dickens on the tips of my ears. We had arrived early but the vast parking lot of the church was already jammed. And they had all come – hundreds of them – all had come to say good-bye to the Mighty Warrior. (more…)

Even though no one has come up with a way to explain it to everybody…it’s still true. Some rejoice when they see it. Others become angry and deny that it’s real. Maybe the reason those who refuse to believe somehow sense believing would require them to admit the truth and take responsibility. And it was never more difficult for anyone to see than for me to see. (more…)

How do we get there? To the end of the rainbow I mean. And is it even possible?
If we could get there, what would we find – gold? A whole pot? And would it really be valid currency? I don’t know, but I do know one thing. If we did find a pot of gold, you can bet the IRS would be around there somewhere.

DOMINION - do-min-ion – \do-’min-yen\ noun Middle English 1. Supreme authority over. 2. An order of angels. I saw something once. Well, twice actually. Something. I’ll try to use words, but be warned right now…I’ll fail. The sad little ability I have with Mother English will prevent my clumsy fingers from typing the words to convey the sense of awe and wonder that came into me when it happened. Later – five years later – I saw it again. The same thing. One experience was enough to haunt me, but two? I saw it in the horse first. (more…)

“Who are those people? asked the child.
Sitting in the pew beside his son, the father turned and saw the stained glass windows in the little church. Brilliant hues of swirling colors in each, and in each shone a painted human figure illuminated by the rays of the Sunday morning sun. (more…)
By: Michael JohnsonI really like our vet. His name is Dr. Kyle Pratt from Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and a graduate from one of the top four institutions on the planet – which as we all know are MIT, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, and Doc Pratt’s alma mater… Oklahoma State University! Not ranked in any particular order you understand. (more…)

She always said I should write about it. She said it would give people hope…but I never would. “I’m not a preacher,” I would always say. She said that didn’t matter and that it wasn’t about preaching, but that it was about the thing called hope. But I wouldn’t do it. In almost every case, I not only listened to her opinion, but acted on it, and found her advice to be sage and sound every time – except for this one subject. I couldn’t write about this. I thought people would think me funny or odd, and trying to be something I’m not. I’m not a preacher you know – I’m a cowboy. But the story is true – it happened to me, and if it gives you hope, then maybe she was right, and then I’m answering the call. (more…)

THE PRAYER
When I first began in this business, I had no idea what to do. Talking with a friend who had much more experience than me, I said, “I have a strong desire in my heart, but other that that, I don’t have a clue.â€
“That is the first key,†said my mentor, “and there is a second one.
“And what is that?†I asked.
“First, to find what’s in your heart, then do what is required. (more…)

REAL KEYS
The young man had made the decision to take his life. Lying weeping across a hotel bed in Missouri, all hope was gone. With no friends, no money, and no prospects, his situation seemed bleak indeed. Worse yet, he was completely unable to see any path out of the darkness. He wanted so desperately to do something, but there was nothing he knew to do.
“Best to end it all,†he said through gritted teeth. Then, something happened. (more…)
