We ran an add on your site. Someone replied to it and ended up sending us a cheque for 6980.00 and our animals were only 2700.00 they wanted us to send the money on with the trucker. However I read your scam page so I was on to them. I took all there emails and there cheque to the RCMP. The cheque was no good and there is an ongoin investigation lauched by the bank in the US. Ashley Andrews of North Dakota was named Miss Rodeo America 2007 in ceremonies held earlier today at the Orleans Hotel and Casino. Andrews, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease earlier this year, is the first North Dakotan to be selected for the honor just the second in the history of the Miss Rodeo America Pageant, which dates back to 1956. Andrews, who hails from Mandan, is a senior at the University of North Dakota and is a financial manager for a North Dakota political group. (more…)

Vancouver-born Russell Baze became racing’s winningest jockey Friday when he broke Laffit Pincay Jr.’s record with a victory aboard Butterfly Belle at Bay Meadows in San Mateo, Calif.
Win No. 9,531 came in the fourth race, when Baze found a hole along the rail and drove through it. He whipped the filly right-handed down the stretch to win on the Longden turf course, named for Johnny Longden, who once held the record Baze broke. (more…)

FDA Warns Horse Owners About Fumonisins in Horse Feed
Each year, a number of horses die from eating corn or corn byproducts containing fumonisins. Fumonisins are a group of toxins produced by an endophytic mold found within the corn kernel. Typically, fumonisins are produced while the corn plant is growing in the field, but levels can also increase under improper storage conditions after harvest. In 2001, Herald-Leader reporter Linda Blackford and photographer David Stephenson documented the life of a Kentucky Derby prospect. They chose a foal named Lunar Perigee, a nobly bred thoroughbred owned by Woodford County’s Pin Oak Stud. In 2002 and 2003, the paper followed the horse’s upbringing, training and first year of races.
His racing career continued through this year. But then, with the help — quite by chance — of Herald-Leader journalists, his life took a decidedly different turn. (more…)
